Under the direction of the Police Lieutenant, the Dispatch
Supervisor will supervise the Police & Safety Services
Communications Center, a 24-hour/7 day per week operation with
dispatch staff. Provides direct supervision to dispatcher staff.
Interfaces with appropriate supervisory personnel to ensure the
dispatchers provide quality service. Supervision of the dispatch
center entails a full range of core responsibilities, including, in
part: recruiting/hiring, assigning work and work schedules,
performance management, records management, and statistical
The Dispatch Supervisor ensures that all Public Safety Dispatchers
meet the bi-annual Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST)
continuing professional training requirements; and coordinates the
equipment and service delivery for various communications systems
(e.g. CAD/RMS systems and campus alarms). Conduct training of
dispatchers, as well as periodic and annual reviews. Provide
reports to the Lieutenant on the performance of all dispatchers and
on all problems that occur which may require management
involvement. Ensure proper maintenance, use, and operation of
assigned equipment, material, and supplies, including but not
limited to reviewing logs, tape recordings, and databases, and by
performing site inspections and audits as needed.

High school diploma or equivalent. Required
