Financial Advisor STATUS: Hourly/Non-Exempt TYPE: On Campus REPORTS
TO: Director of Financial Aid PURPOSE The Student Financial Advisor
is responsible for the administration and coordination of Federal,
State, and Institutional Aid Programs and the management and
services of the School’s Financial Aid Office. The individual in
this role will assess the financial needs of students and advises
on financial aid options, processes, and requirements. The Student
Financial Advisor is accountable for ensuring prospective and
continuing students have all the tools and information they need to
successfully complete the financial aid process. The Student
Financial Advisor plays a significant role in supporting the
mission and goals of the school. The individual in this role will
actively engage with prospective and continuing students by
creating a friendly and positive environment in a virtual financial
aid process. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Provide guidance and instructions
to students and parents (if applicable) for requesting an FSA ID
and completing the online FAFSA application Gives students an
estimated financial plan and budgeting guidance Ability to package
prospective students in a timely and independent manner Educate,
support and manage the financial aid process for students Evaluates
students' academic progress to ensure students stay eligible for
their financial aid program(s) Determine eligibility and process
Smith Chason scholarship applications Regularly and consistently
follow up with prospective students via phone calls, text messages
and emails when necessary Quickly respond to requests for
information and provide assistance Ability to repackage continuing
students in a timely and independent manner Attend appropriate
weekly staff meetings Detailed, accurate and timely documentation
of all student communication in Institution’s SIS Ensure all
expected funding is received to clear students for externship and
for graduation Keep current on all programs offered and continually
seek to enhance program/school knowledge Collaborate with other
departments in a positive and productive manner to ensure a
student-first environment Adhere to all State and Accrediting
Agencies regulations Additional duties as assigned by Corporate
Director of Financial Aid / Campus Director
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES Minimum of two years previous
experience in a Private Post Secondary Financial Aid position
Knowledge and understanding of Federal and State regulations
pertaining to Title IV Funding Strong technical skills including
computer applications/programs, internet research, database
management, and analytical skills Ability to prioritize,
multi-task, perform well under pressure, and meet deadlines
Essential qualities: positive attitude, strong desire to help
others, self-driven nature, confidence, and results-oriented Be
able to effectively collaborate with other team members to meet
daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly campus objectives Other
necessary character traits include being a team player and having
the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
Always behave in a professional manner in way of appearance,
demeanor, and attitude Consistently display the highest levels of
integrity in all that is done PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING
