The Housekeeping Services Manager is a member of the UCR Facilities
Services team that supervises the custodial and housekeeping
operations to ensure and provide a clean, safe and aesthetically
pleasing environment for all members of the campus community.
Provides direct supervision and guidance to unit Custodial
Supervisors and provides indirect supervision to a work force
consisting of 60 to 95 custodial and housekeeping staff. Ensures
that established departmental directives, organizational design and
structure that effectively and efficiently accomplish departmental
and unit goals and objectives are maintained. Promotes and
maintains a strong customer focus work environment and a
cooperative teamwork philosophy to endorse the development and
implementation of new services and innovative approaches to improve
custodial and housekeeping services for the campus. Ensures safety
procedures and protocols are established and maintained, ensuring
compliance with state, federal and UC regulations. Responsible for
operational administration and personnel management. Participates
in developing and monitoring operational and budget processes.
Provides operational support to other Facilities Services units as
necessary. Facilities Services is one of the largest departments at
UC Riverside employing nearly 400 career employees. Facilities
Services provides exceptional service in maintaining an environment
conducive of teaching, learning, living, working and research for
the entire campus community. The department maintains buildings,
facilities and landscape totaling over 6 million square feet across
1,350 acres of campus. We are a team of service oriented
professionals focused on exceptional client engagement, continuous
improvement and development opportunities. The schedule for this
position will be Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
High school diploma or equivalent certification. Preferred
Bachelor's degree in related area. Preferred
Valid Driver License Required
LEED Green Associate Preferred
Bloodborn pathogen and sharps disposal training. Required
6 - 10 years of related experience. Required
Experience using online and/or web-based work order systems.
Experience with personnel management, including staffing, hiring,
training, disciplinary action, termination, and performance

Intermediate computer applications skills.
Solid and effective interpersonal and work leadership skills to
provide guidance to other personnel.
Solid verbal and written communication skills in the English
language, active listening, flexibility, critical thinking,
multi-task and time management.
Working knowledge in the care and use of power equipment, hazardous
materials, biohazardous materials and clean room policies and
procedures. Ability to provide staff guidance and properly train on
use of equipment, materials and safety policies and practices.
Solid decision making and reasoning skills, ability to develop
original ideas to solve problems, and perform operations analysis
and quality control analysis.
Ability to produce and provide reports on inventory/equipment,
schedules, staffing, etc.
Proven ability to work with diverse populations.
Working knowledge and/or experience of UC systems, polices,
procedures and regulations.
Knowledge of human resources procedures, including staffing,
hiring, training, disciplinary action, termination, and performance
Knowledge of fiscal/budget administration.
Knowledge of sustainability programs, U.S. Green Building Council,
and LEED requirements.
Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience with personnel management
in a collective bargaining unit.
