Job Description:

Reporting to the Vice Chancellor of Research and Economic Development (VCRED), the RED Communications Director is responsible for developing, planning, implementing and managing a comprehensive program of marketing initiatives, high profile events, and communications support for all units within RED. The Director will develop talking points; prepare remarks, presentations, and newsletters; as well as advise on, draft, edit, and deploy messaging as required to support RED initiatives and events. Reaching both internal and external audiences as appropriate, the program ensures wide-spread representation of RED's research, entrepreneurship and innovation activities and accomplishments. The Director researches and gathers information to craft communications aimed at reputation enhancement and recognition of important events. As such, the Director works as a liaison with central campus offices including University Communications, University Advancement, Information Technology Services and the office of Governmental & Community Relations to ensure that RED accomplishments are incorporated into the larger communication plans. Similarly, the Director works closely with RED data analysts to ensure the accuracy of all information being shared. The Director contributes to the development of the online marketing strategy and manage the overall delivery of online marketing initiatives including: social media strategy and channel management, website architecture (updates and improvements), management of Search Engine Optimization, analytics and domains, identification of existing and emerging trends in social media, website development, and online marketing that will help further RED--------s goals. The incumbent must be a hands-on team player who acts as an able advisor to RED departments with the skills to write, edit, layout and proof brochures, newsletters and other publications in support of the teaching, research and service missions of the organization. Finally, as a coordinator for all types of communications, the Director will represent RED at events, meetings or other activities related to RED initiatives.Some aspects of this position may be performed remotely. **As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy.
