Director of Regional Development, UCR Extension Job Number Full/Part Time Schedule Salary 201903119061 Full Time 8AM - 5PM $84,500 - $166,500 Position Information Budgeted amount for this position is $95,000 - $110,000. Under the general direction of the Senior Director of Regional Development with operational responsibilities to the Dean of UCR Extension, the Director of Regional Development/UCR Extension will be a front-line fundraiser responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of comprehensive fundraising programs that will generate private support for UC Riverside. The incumbent is expected to dedicate 50% of his/her focus on regional development and 50% on UCR Extension fundraising priorities. Fundraising responsibilities entail raising support for scholarships, fellowships, and programs/areas that enhance the overall student experience at UCR. He/she is also responsible for qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift donors and prospects in his/her specific region (Riverside and San Bernardino Counties), connecting alumni, donors, friends, volunteers and other constituents to the campus, and to ultimately increase individual gifts to campus-wide schools, departments, and programs. With respect to UCR Extension, the Director of Development will be responsible for creating and executing a strategic fundraising plan. He/she will establish long and short range goals that reflect the academic and outreach priorities of the Dean of UCR Extension. While this position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities, there will be opportunities to mentor and educate staff and employees within UCR Extension about the development process and how to think more strategically in regards to philanthropy to their specific departments. Education Education Requirements Degree Requirement Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required Advanced degree. Preferred Experience Experience Requirement 3 years in fundraising or a record of demonstrated achievement within a major research university environment. Preferred 6 - 10 years of related experience. Required Special Conditions Special Condition Requirement Requires travel to multiple work sites, including meetings and events on and off campus and within Riverside/SB counties. Occasional domestic travel may be required, as well as nontraditional work hours to accommodate evening and/or weekends that coincide with events and meetings. Required Minimum Requirements Advanced written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen, to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies. Ability to make persuasive and compelling presentations of goals and objectives for a location in order to secure gifts. Advanced knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc. Proven success at fundraising by developing and implementing strategic plans that incorporate a concise definition of goals, targeted audiences, and strategies in-line with institution goals and closing gifts ($25,000) from individuals, corporations, and foundations, both local and national. Very strong skills in maintaining confidentiality. Demonstrated success at meeting predetermined goals and objectives through effective program/project planning, organization, execution and evaluation. Advanced oral and interpersonal communication skills, with an emphasis on tact, diplomacy, flexibility, professionalism and discretion in order to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies. Advanced skill in making persuasive and compelling presentations of campus goals/objectives and securing gifts. Advanced organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills, including skill in creative and effective decision-making and problem identification/avoidance/resolution, and strong project management skills. Advanced knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques. Ability to work effectively with deans and directors, academic and University leaders and volunteers to achieve fundraising goals. Preferred Qualifications General knowledge of various types of charitable gifts, including in kind gifts, gifts of securities planned giving vehicles and gifts of real property. Experience using Raiser's Edge or other CRM databases. Experience supporting capital or comprehensive campaigns in higher education. Advanced working knowledge of all aspects of the location, including current issues of concern for both the campus and/or throughout higher education/healthcare generally. Advanced working of the location, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure. Ability to work effectively with student organizations parent programs and faculty.
