and expertise! - -POSITION SUMMARY: -Provides skilled perioperative
nursing care to patients according to their individual needs and
supervises associated personnel in related activities. Assists with
surgical procedures in the scrub and circulating roles and
supervises non-professional personnel in these areas. Assists in
maintaining a safe aseptic environment. -Able to carry out the
functions that will assist the surgeon in performing a safe
operation with optimal results for the patient under the direction
or supervision of the surgeon.Position: FT/Mixed Shifts with
Rotatinging WeekendsShift: 1.00 FTE/8hr Shifts -Qualifications
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Two-years operating room
experienceLICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:Current California RN
license.CNOR certification.BLSACLSEDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:AA Degree
minimum. -Graduate of an accredited RNFA Program with completion of
precepted clinical portion.KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:Knowledge of aseptic
technique.Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and
pathophysiology.Ability to assess developmental needs of patients
from infancy to the elderly and to modify care appropriately.Must
be able to interpret pertinent findings and adapt to the OR
setting.
- Tier 2 - This position has access to medication rooms.
- Ability to function during stress/emergency situations
- Ability to physically withstand strenuous periods of work.
- Demonstrates age appropriate communication skills for the
patient population served.
- Demonstrates the ability to assess and interpret age
appropriate data about the patient's status in order to identify
age-specific needs and provide the care needed.
- -Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide
care appropriate to the age of the patients served, including
knowledge of the principles of growth and development and
psychosocial characteristics and interventions for Infant to
Geriatric.
- Assists in administrative duties as needed.
- Assists in department quality improvement activities.
- Assists in OR staff development and education. Participates in
continuing education activities.
- -Assists in the control and maintenance of drugs, supplies, and
equipment.
- Assures aseptic technique according to accepted standards.
- Assures proper techniques and nursing practices are followed
according to departmental policies and procedures and standards of
practice.
- Conduct demonstrates knowledge of and adherence to RCH's
Infection Control Policies & Procedures.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and customer service
skills intra/interdepartmentally.
- Insures the safe and efficient care of the patient through
proper identification, review of the chart, and by assessing and
reporting any changes in the patient's condition.
- Is on-call for emergencies/trauma and available for additional
duty as necessary.
- Is responsible for patient safety at all times.
- Keeps the Shift Coordinator informed of changes in patient
status and progression of case.
- Performs circulating duties efficiently and in a professional
manner. This includes assessing patient/physician needs related to
supplies, equipment, and instrumentation.
- Performs scrub duties with knowledge of the procedure and by
anticipating the needs of the surgeon regarding instruments,
sutures, and supplies.
- Performs the RNFA role by demonstrating skill in the following
intra-operative nursing behaviors:a. Handling tissueb. Using
instrumentsc. Providing exposured. Providing hemostatsis
- Demonstrated knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology and
operative technique related to first assisting.
- Promotes cooperative working environment.
- Seeks assistance from Director/Manager/Shift Coordinator to
solve clinical issues.
- Supervises, directs, and assists in the perioperative care of
