Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):
$30.164 - $37.705 - $45.246
The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably
expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade
for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors,
including an applicant's years of experience, unique skills and
abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates,
marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and
employer business practices.
What You Will Do
Manage all pharmacy procurement responsibilities to ensure drug and
supply inventory is adequate to meet the needs of day-to-day
pharmacy operations while ensuring compliance with all regulatory
requirements, optimizing inventory turns, minimizing drug
expirations and controlling costs to meet financial budget
targets.
Required Qualifications
Establishes and maintains appropriate levels of stock in response
to ongoing utilization, shortages, waste prevention and critical
needs.
Resolves supply problems with minimal assistance per Sharp
HealthCare's (SHC) drug shortage policy and procedures. Secures
acceptable product alternatives when necessary.
Manages minimum/maximum inventory levels by continuously making
adjustments as necessary, especially of fast-moving items to avoid
stock outs.
Controls and manages inventory on an ongoing basis for
opportunities to improve inventory turns, decrease expired waste
and meet pharmacy budget targets.
Oversees receiving process of drugs and supplies per SHC pharmacy
procurement policy and procedures.
Returns overstocked / mis-ordered items to appropriate vendor in a
timely manner that meets vendor policy to obtain full credit when,
possible.
Maintains an organized and clean inventory shelving system and
workspace.
Coordinates and communicates short dated items among buyers for
possible sharing, borrow and loaning to prevent unused drugs from
expiring.
Organizes, coordinates and prepares for yearly inventory per the
pharmacy annual inventory departmental guidelines.
Maintains oversight of emergency supplies (chempack etc.) and
wholesaler disaster plan drug lists per SHC policy.
Monitors and manages drug recalls per SHC policy and procedures
Ensures expired pharmaceutical inventory is quarantined to
designated area and returned to reverse distributor vendor for
credit and disposal per departmental guidelines.
Accurately places all primary wholesaler, secondary vendor and
direct pharmaceutical orders daily, and in a timely manner per SHC
pharmacy procurement policy and procedures.
Communicates drug price increases with pharmacy leadership for
consideration of alternatives and cost savings strategies.
Monitors contract changes and adheres to contracts unless less
expensive alternative negotiated off contract or supply problems
exist with contract items.
Adheres to System Pharmacy set criteria and approved secondary
vendor and compounding pharmacy lists.
Is proficient in computerized systems and technologies utilized in
purchasing operations, including split-billing software programs
related to the 340B program, if applicable.
Approves all primary wholesaler invoices in a timely manner by
reconciling invoices/credits with statements and obtaining approval
from management.
Ensures all secondary vendor and direct manufacturer invoices are
reconciled, processed and approved in Appian in a timely
manner.
Follows up on any open credit memos within 30 days of receipt.
Manages and resolves all shipping or billing errors, following up
until errors are corrected.
Reviews all pharmaceutical and supply costs in Lawson on a monthly
basis to ensure accuracy.
Obtains timely approval from System Pharmacy and Accounts Payable
when purchasing from new vendors.
Coordinates the Borrow/loan process between facilities, ensuring
that records are current and reconciled per SHC policy and
procedures to ensure costs are transferred to appropriate cost
centers.
Maintains all purchase records, invoices, receipts and inventory
control records per SHC policy and procedures.
Reviews pharmaceutical dashboards on a monthly basis to explain
variances and track expenses to ensure department is meeting budget
targets.
Assist with implementing processes to help Pharmacy achieve and
maintain desirable inventory turns
Work with drug manufacturers, GPO and other vendors to ensure
pharmacy is receiving best pricing of pharmaceuticals accurately
loaded in the Wholesaler's purchasing platform.
Meets with Pharmaceutical Representatives at the direction of
Manager to help explore savings opportunities.
Collaborate with Clinical team on cost savings initiatives related
to formulary conversions.
Participate in the annual pharmaceutical budgeting process.
Proactively identifies potential medication safety improvement
opportunities such as look alike, sound alike medication storage
and packaging issues, management of hazardous medications,
delivery, storage and security related issues.
Ensures all new NDC drug purchases are submitted for Cerner
barcoding and/or DoseEdge scanning for safety.
Proactively participates in the development of medication safety
initiatives to prevent occurrence or reoccurrence of medication
safety events related to drug procurement and inventory
management.
Demonstrates awareness of medication safety communications
delivered by pharmacy management and safe medication practice
pharmacist.
Consistently demonstrates self-motivation, cooperation, teamwork,
initiative and flexibility toward the fulfillment of hospital and
departmental goals by:
Participating in the development of tools and standards to
establish and improve drug procurement and inventory management
processes.
Meeting established deadlines and completing special projects as
assigned in a cost-effective manner.
Setting work priorities, goals, and objectives in consultation with
pharmacy director and/or manager.
Representing department and Sharp HealthCare in a professional and
competent manner.
Demonstrating dedication to enhancement and improvement of
skills.

California Pharmacy Technician License (TCH) - CA State Board of
