Job Title: Labor and Delivery RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN EFM Must-Have: Candidates must possess AWHONN fetal monitoring skills. Candidates must be capable of couplet care if floated. Description: This role involves working in a Labor and Delivery unit with 11 labor beds, 4 OB evaluation rooms, 2 OB PACU beds, and 2 operating rooms. The unit has a total of 79 staff members. On day shift, there is 1 charge nurse, 10 staff nurses, and 2 OB technicians. On night shift, the staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 10 staff nurses, and 2 OB technicians. The patient nurse ratios are 1 RN for every 2 patients and 1 RN for every 1 patient during certain situations. Key equipment used includes GE fetal monitoring systems. The electronic medical record system utilized is CPN and Meditech. Typical procedures performed in the unit include NST, cervical exams, managing labor, titrating medications, and performing McRoberts maneuver. Ideal candidates thrive in a fast-paced environment and are adept at managing multiple patients. Weekend shifts and on-call duties may be required as needed. Candidates will adhere to unit guidelines and policies. Dress code requires hospital-approved scrubs.
