Job Description:
This opportunity is open to all interested candidates. The
School Nurse & Substitute Nurse Pool is for assignments for the
2026-2027 school year. If you are currently in the 2025-2026 School
Nurse and Substitute eligibility pool, you must submit a completed
application to be considered for a position in the 2026-2027 school
year. OVERVIEW: San Diego Unified School District, the second
largest district in California and one of the top largest urban
school districts in the United States, is looking for School Nurses
who care deeply for students and are committed to the communities

School Nurse & Subsstitute Nurse Pool is for assignments for the
2026-2027 school year. The San Diego Unified School District
accepts applications for the School Nurses on a continuous basis
for regular full-time, part-time, and temporary assignments. Nurses
in the District are itinerant, which means they may travel to one
or more sites to serve students. This is a continuous recruitment
which will be used to establish an ongoing eligibility list.
Examples of Duties: The duties of a School Nurse include but are
not limited to the following: Assess and evaluate the health and
developmental status of pupils. Design and implement individual
student health maintenance plans, incorporating plans directed by a
physician. Refer the pupil and parent or guardian to appropriate
community resources for necessary services. Interpret medical and
nursing findings appropriate to students' individualized education
program and make recommendations to professional personnel directly
involved. Consult with, conduct in-service training for, and serve
as a resource to teachers and administrators. Act as a participant
in implementing a comprehensive health instruction curriculum for
students. Develop and implement the health education curriculum.

QUALIFICATIONS: A valid School Nurse Services Credential,
Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited university/program
and a Registered Nurse license, or Enrolled in a college/university
to attain a nursing services credential. APPLICATION INFORMATION:

screening process of this application. Written reference letters
dated within the last year are also accepted and may be attached to

Bill 2534). As of January 1, 2025, in accordance with Education
Code section 44939.5 (as amended by California AB 2534) applicants
for certificated positions are required by law to provide a
complete list of every school district, county office of education,
charter school and/or state special school with which you have
previously been employed, regardless of the length of service.
