Staff Therapist - Evaluation Focus Job Number Full/Part Time Schedule Salary 201812046101 Full Time 8AM - 5PM Commensurate with Experience Position Information The Staff Therapist- Evaluation Focus, provides mental health screening and triage in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, and possesses excellent clinical skills in assessment, triage, crisis walk-in services and intervention and case management. In addition, may conduct a weekly coping skills group, may occasionally provide short-term psychotherapy, conduct campus outreach activities, and other duties as assigned. Must be able to work collaboratively as part of a larger team and communicate effectively with other CAPS clinicians, staff and the extended University community. The Behavioral Health Counselor will also serve as a liaison to various campus communities. A successful applicant will demonstrate commitment to diversity and inclusion and will be well versed in the full range of mental disorders, including safety concerns and indications for hospitalization. Counseling & Psychological Services is a Health and Psychological Student Services (HAPSS) department and supports student success through optimization of emotional and physical health, through direct service, education, and provision of resources and referrals. This recruitment if for multiple openings. Education Education Requirements Degree Requirement Master's degree in related area or equivalent experience. Required Licenses License Requirement CA License as LMFT or LCSW (if licensed in another state, CA license following BBS guidelines for transition to CA licensure) Required Conditions Condition Requirement Maintenance of appropriate continuing education. Required Experience Experience Requirement 4 - 7 years of related experience. Required Demonstrated commitment and experience with Diversity Required Experience designing and implementing multicuturally sensitive outreach programs and psychoeducational workshops. Required Experience working in a university or college setting. Preferred Special Conditions Special Condition Requirement Ongoing maintenance of valid licensure in a behavioral health discipline in California, successful completion and maintenance of valid credentialing & privileging process pursuant to UC systemwide requirements. Required Out of State licensed behavioral health counselors are required to acquire California licensure within 180 days from either submitting the application or beginning California residency, whichever occurs first. Required Expectation of availability after hours or on weekends to serve the occasional emergent needs of students and campus challenges/crises. Required Ability to participate in after-hours on-call rotation and other after-hours campus activities. Required Minimum Requirements Thorough knowledge and understanding of clinical counseling principles, methods, procedures, and standards. Knowledge of business software and specialized applications/systems used in behavioral health settings. Highly effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Thorough knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to patients' rights. Highly effective problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Ability to evaluate the progress of therapeutic approach and modify as necessary. Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops. Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner with a diverse client group. Must possess excellent clinical skills in areas of assessment, triage, crisis walk-in services and intervention. Familiarity with the full range of mental disorders, including safety concerns and indications for hospitalization. Must be able to work collaboratively as part of a larger team and communicate effectively with other CAPS clinicians, staff and the extended University community.
