UC Riverside s Housing, Dining, and Hospitality Services is
recruiting for a Dining Supervisor for the Barn. The Barn is
comprised of a quick service restaurant with four distinct
platforms (deli, salads, hot entrees, grill, and beverages) with 90
seats and an exit POS design, a Faculty/Staff Restaurant with 60
seats, two 3rd party Bars, an outdoor patio with 110 seats, and an
outdoor patio with stage of 260 seats, and an outdoor entertainment
venue. The Barn complex is the first of its kind at UCR and will
serve as a destination for students, staff, and faculty alike while
providing a sense of purpose, place, and community for campus
constituents to come together for food, drinks, and entertainment.
The Barn includes a robust entertainment and event schedule to meet
fiscal goals which will be coordinated between the venue leadership
team and a Talent Buyer contractor. The Barn's Dining Supervisor
will assist in planning, organizing, and managing day-to-day
activities, work assignments, guest service, and maintenance
functions of The Barn. The Dining Supervisor will participate in
the selection, training, supervision, and performance evaluations
of assigned staff, to include custodial and maintenance functions.
The Dining Supervisor will review unit budgets to ensure proper
fiscal controls, and supervise the ordering, receiving, storage and
issuing of all assigned products along with the planning and
service of all assigned menu items. The Dining Supervisor will also
help develop creative menu propositions (happy hour, BOGO, late
night menu, etc.) to help drive revenue generation, as well as
assist in the planning and execution of special events in the
High school diploma or equivalent certification/experience.
Graduation or completed college courses in Food Service Management
or related field.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
ServSafe Certification or equivalent certification.
Must successfully obtain ServSafe certification with a minimum
score of 75 within six (6) months of appointment begin date.
4 - 7 years of related experience.
Supervisory experience, preferably in food service industry.
Occasional travel for business related meetings, professional
development, and/or events.
Hired candidate must successfully pass a background check through
the DOJ and FBI.
Basic mathematical and cash control skills to accurately complete
drawer counts and prepare deposits.
Working knowledge in food service and sanitation regulations.
Working knowledge to make appropriate decisions, reasoning skills,
ability to develop original ideas to solve problems, and conduct
basic operations analysis and quality control analysis.
Intermediate computer application skills to include food service
applications such as point of sale and inventory control
Working verbal and written communication skills in the English
language, including active listening, dynamic flexibility, critical
thinking, and ability to multi-task and ensure productive time
Working skills to provide effective interpersonal and work
supervision guidance to other personnel and work effectively with
partners on joint projects.
Effective skills to be able to professionally communicate both
verbally and in writing using tact and diplomacy with staff,
management and customers. Ability to compose written documentation
using correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Knowledge of Production Management principles and food production,
including sanitary and safety standards, cost control and expense
analysis, food selection and ordering.
Knowledge of working in a union environment.
Present or previous involvement with the National Association of
College and University Food Service (NACUFS).
Knowledge and ability to logistically plan and execute events.
