Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Director of Teacher Education, the Lead Credential Analyst has an important role and aids in diverse tasks. It includes interpreting academic requirements for the university, California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, and provides fundamental academic advising to administrators, staff, faculty, supervisors, districts, and graduate students, including advising for retention. The incumbent also functions as the lead credential analyst, which includes keeping abreast of past and present legislative changes and educational codes that affect the issuance of a credential, makes teacher credential recommendations to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing for students who complete program requirements, and provides training to other academic advisors, supervisors and school districts on the processes and requirements for credential recommendations. Under supervision, the Lead Credential Analyst organizes workshops, information sessions on preliminary and induction credentials, and conducts advising that support student retention and timeliness to credential and/or degree. The Lead Credential Analyst also assists the Director in implementing a recruitment and retention plan/strategies for students interested in pursuing a career in one of the teaching and education professions. The Lead Credential Analyst works collaboratively with other TEP staff to support student retention, and with other departments, including Cashiers Office, Financial Aid Office, Graduate Division Admission Office, Business and Contracts Office, Risk Management, and Registrar's Office on resolving problems with billing and the online admissions module in UCR's Student Information System. Overall, serves as key resource on campus to interpret and implement policy relevant to Teacher Education. This is a variable 50%-75% part-time career staff position, eligible for full benefits. The majority of the year the incumbent is expected to work 50% time, however, there are possible peak periods that may require additional work hours. This position may require traveling up to 25% of the time.
