SCHEDULE: Full-time

SCHEDULE: 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week) SHIFT: Mixed with rotating weekends.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, and according to general policies and procedures, the patient safety coordinator supports the patient safety department in the maintenance of the grievance process and the execution of the sentinel event analyses to improve patients and visitor safety and overall quality of care.

Revisions to the job description and accountabilities may be required due to patient care needs and/or efficient operation of the hospital. You will be advised in writing of any changes. It is also understood that the job description is not all-inclusive and you may be required to perform other related duties.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

3-5 years experience in a healthcare setting; minimum 2 years experience with patient safety or risk management preferred

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Current California RN License preferred.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

B.A/B.S. required

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Analytical skills necessary in order to handle non-routine, moderately complex administrative details.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Must effectively read, write and verbally communicate in the English language.
  • Computer literate with in-depth knowledge, experience to operate word processing, data bases, graphics, and spreadsheets in order to generate reports.
  • Ability to learn and operate Krono's, Meditech, Excel, Word and a patient care management systems.
  • Superior telephone, communication, and interpersonal skills to interact effectively and positively with people.
  • Ability to show understanding, patience, and tact when dealing with physicians, staff, and the public.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, follow instructions and maintain a high level of professional conduct.
  • Perform moderately complex administrative duties such as coordinating meetings and conferences, budget development, complex computer and database management skills, and interacting with system-wide with callers, patients, and the public.
