The Senior Complaint Resolution Officer supports this mission by addressing reports and concerns of discrimination and harassment on the basis of the protected categories outlined in state, federal, and university non-discrimination statutes and policies, including sex, gender, race, color, national origin, religion, disability, citizenship, genetic information or medical condition, military service/protected veteran status, and age. The Senior Complaint Resolution Officer conducts intakes and assessments of reports made by faculty, students, staff, and non-affiliates, and, as part of a team, resolves complaints in accordance with the UC Policy on Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment and UC and campus non-discrimination policies. This position may serve as the Office lead for matters relating to the UCR Heath Enterprise (including the School of Medicine). The Senior Case Resolution Officer also promotes equal opportunity and affirmative action programs including through training and education and otherwise promoting awareness of policies, reporting requirements, and resources. As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy. All Covered Individuals under the policy must provide proof of Full Vaccination or submit a request for Exception (based on Medical Exemption, Disability, and/or Religious Objection) or Deferral (based on pregnancy) no later than the applicable deadline. For new University of California employees, the applicable deadline is ten weeks after their first date of employment. Education Education Requirements Degree Requirement Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required Advanced degree in a related field or Juris Doctorate. Preferred Certifications Certification Requirement Professional certification(s) applicable to job responsibilities. Preferred CCEP (certified ethics and compliance professional), CHC, CHPC or CHRC Preferred AWI-CH (Association of Workplace Investigators Certificate Holder). Preferred Experience Experience Requirement 3 years of experience relating to resolution of civil rights complaints (Title VII, Title IX, ADA, etc.) Preferred Experience in a hospital, medical center, or other health care entity, or in conducting investigations in the clinical (health care) setting Preferred 6 - 10 years of related experience. Required Experience investigating harassment or equivalently sensitive allegations in an empathetic and confidential matter. Required Special Conditions Special Condition Requirement Must be able to work extended hours and or weekends as needed. Required Must have the ability to travel to trainings, seminars, conferences and other work related activities as needed. Required Travel Required Travel Outside of Normal Business Hours Required Minimum Requirements Basic understanding of the relevance of trauma in the context of investigating sexual violence and other traumatic events/conduct (for example the neurobiology of trauma and trauma-informed investigation techniques).Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills to work independently with all levels of University personnel, including management and faculty, and to facilitate agreement on issues and corrective actions.Demonstrated written and oral communication skills; builds rapport in an open, friendly, and accepting way; listens attentively.Ability to maintain objectivity and professionalism in adversarial situations; skill in de-escalation.Thorough understanding of the interrelationship of procedures and desired results.Is able to apply appropriate policies and practices in the completion of ethics and compliance assignments. Skills in critical decision making.Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state civil rights laws, regulations, and guidance related to harassment in the educational or employment setting, or of substantially similar laws and regulations.Ability to present complex issues in a clear and concise manner, both in writing and verbally for presentation or review by senior leadership.Demonstrated skill, sensitivity and experience interacting with constituents who are diverse in characteristics such as age, education level, race, gender identity and expression, ability, and socioeonomic background in a culturally competent manner.Ability to extract, verify, compile and develop recommendations related to ethics and compliance programs, issues, policies and procedures.Advanced knowledge of the ethics and compliance profession, theories and systems of internal control, and professional compliance and investigations standards.Ability to gather and organize information, conduct analysis, and make recommendations on issues that are complex in nature; critical thinker.
