POSITION SUMMARY: The Restaurant Clerk / Food Truck Clerk position is one of the key contact points for our customers Service experience and will Assist with the preparation of EL Super grilled and hot food items, following precise Company standards for preparation and presentation and maintaining a clean and inviting restaurant. Must be able to work a variety of hours including nights and weekends

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):

* Assembles ingredients necessary to make all food items.
* Inspects ingredients for acceptable quality and standards.
* Prepares salsas, cilantro dressing, slices avocado, packages tortillas and prepares all other hot (other than grilled) and cold food items according to projected need, using company food handling and safety procedures.
* Maintains dining room to company standards of cleanliness and organization, interacts with customers and taking orders while assigned to dining room position.
* Ensures tables, seating and floors are clean and well maintained
* Sets up and ensures hot and cold prep lines are stocked with all necessary food and paper products using FIFO method of rotation.
* Communicates with Cooks and employees assigned to the hot and cold prep lines to ensure food items are re-stocked before supplies are exhausted.
* Maintains and stores all food items in the walk-in refrigerator and/ hot food holding cabinet on the proper shelf and ensures day-to-day rotation of stock using FIFO rotation method.
* Assembles and maintains the salsa and condiment stations and drink stations according to company food quality and handling guidelines.
* Ensures all paper and disposable items for these stations are well stocked and available for guests
* Cleans and sanitizes all work surfaces, dishes, utensils, tools, storage containers, trays, and walk-in. Cleans interior of restaurant including lobby, restrooms, windows, floors, light fixtures, signage and ceiling vents. Empties trash and cleans trash receptacles.
* Cleans exterior of restaurant including outside dining spaces and inspects and removes all trash from exterior of building.
* All cleaning duties are performed following safety guidelines to prevent accidents or injuries to guests and co-workers.
* Comply with ServSafe practices with regard to personal cleanliness and food handling.
* Continually monitor for quality of food and service.
* Adhere to all company policies, procedures and practice, including pricing and discounting.
* Perform additional responsibilities as requested by the restaurant Manager/Supervisor as assigned

ACTING AS FOOD TRUCK CLERK DURING CATERING EVENTS / FOOD TRUCK EVENT

In addition to the duties described above, the following additional duties will be performed:

* Takes customer orders in an organized fashion
* Accepts customers' payments and conducts money handling transactions according to BLC's money handling procedures
* Assists Food Truck Manager / Cook with opening duties, preparation, cleaning, stocking and closing procedures
* Performs dish washing and janitorial duties as assigned
* Focuses on order accuracy and promptness: Serving, assembling and presenting the food
* Prepares menu items such as tacos, platters, combos, family packages, beverages (aguas frescas), etc.
* Packages take-out orders

Other opening-closing Food Truck duties as assigned.

* Minimum 1-2 years restaurant experience (preferred).
* Flexible schedule; evenings and/or weekends
* Outstanding guest-focused approach to each guest interaction.
* Outstanding suggestive selling abilities.
* Must be 18 years or older
* Able to read, speak, and understand basic English
* Able to work in a fast paced environment
* Neat, clean, and professional appearance
* Exhibit a sense of urgency
* Ability to work well with others as a team as well as independently
* Has high level of enthusiasm and self-motivation
* Ability to read and understand register tickets, kitchen recipes, and procedures.
* HS diploma or GED (preferred)
* Bilingual in English and Spanish (a plus but not required).
* Must be able to follow all safety, health and sanitation procedures.
* Food Handler Card or its equivalent certification is required for all positions related to: preparation, handling and serving food.

While performing the duties of this job, the Service Assistant is regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time. The Service Assistant must also have the ability to do the following: regularly lift /move/or carry up to 20 pounds; frequently lift/move/or carry up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift/move/or carry up to 50 pounds; work with restaurant equipment (stove, ovens, fryers, knives, pots and pans, etc.). Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, grasping, pinching, smelling, tasting, reaching/lifting above shoulders in a repetitive manner; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; and work with cleaning solutions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
